Origami Father's Day Shirt Card

This is an origami Father's Day card that I made for each of the Father's.  Can you believe you only have to use a legal sized copy paper and a tiny scrap of scrapbook paper or a different color of paper?  Frugal?  I think YES!

It was super simple (even though I had to practice three times before I mastered it) and I suggest using legal sized paper instead of standard size typing paper.  The legal size gives it a longer shirt and makes it look better.

I used these directions from Alpha Mom. They seemed to be the easiest to follow that I found and it seemed to be a hit.

Milestone Sucker Arrangement!

My sister shares her birthday with my darling daughter. So, since we are having my daughter's party this weekend I couldn't resist making this for my sister's BIG 40!

If you have a cricut this will be a lot less time consuming than it was for me. But, if you don't then you can do it like I did.  I used Word, found a font I liked, printed it out the phrase, cut the letters out, traced them on black card stock. Bought a small piece of Styrofoam at Michael's (using 40% off coupon) put it in the bottom of the container, spray painted some skewers black and then stick all of it together. It took a lot more suckers than I thought. So a word of advice, if you want to do this find a really small container. My arrangement took three bags. Good thing she will be at a party full of four year olds....he.he.he!

Garage Sale at My House!

I recently had a garage sale and this one made the one most money out of all of my garage sales.  Why?  Because I had 3 other people add their items to my garage sale and because we had a neighborhood garage sale where other neighbors participated.  Well that's at least what I attribute my recent success too.

I also let my daughter have her own bake sale where she sold out of all of her items and and had people asking for more.  I think it is important for them to have a role in the garage sale as well.  She loved it!

Garage Sale Finds!

I love summer time and getting to go to garage sales.  My husband hates them because I always find something I think I need. 

Garage sales are so much cheaper than thrift stores and I usually find better things garage sailing.

Below are some of my recent finds.

I've been wanting to try and recover a baby seat for quite some time but needed an old one "cheap" to take apart for the pattern.  Cheap enough $10.00 for the carrier and the base.

Silver coffee pot to use for my niece's shower I will be hosting in late August.  It's really pretty once I got it all cleaned up.  It was a mere $5.00

I had to have this when I saw it was only a $1.  Right now it is primed and ready to be painted and distressed at my mom's house.  Can't wait till it's finished.  My daughter loves it.

Surprise Picnic Lunch!

I've been missing in action preparing for my daughter's birthday and enjoying the summer with my family.  Last week we surprised my husband at work for a picnic in the park.  It was lovely.

Turtle Watermelon Carving!
