Once A Month Cooking?
I HATE having to come up with something every night for dinner. It is so mundane day after day. And to be honest I sometimes just don't like cooking. Once a month cooking is method for people who don't always want to cook, but want to have cooked. (quoted from Once A Month Cooking by Mimi Wilson & Mary Beth Lagerborg).
So, I thought I would jump on the band wagon of once a month cooking (OAMC)......or at least try it out. Here's a quick summary of what once a month cooking is: you cook all day a month's worth of meals, freeze them and dethaw which meal you would like that day for dinner. I didn't think I wanted to start with a full month of cooking so, I came up with 13 recipes that sounded good from "Once-a-month cooking : a proven system for spending less time in the kitchen and enjoying delicious, homemade meals every day / Mimi Wilson and Mary Beth Lagerborg" that I checked out from the local library.
I love the local library it's evolved so much. You can go online and go through the catalog of all the local library's find the book you want, request it, and then have it sent to your nearest library, and they even call you when it's ready to be picked up. Frugal and practical especially for books that really don't need to buy.
Here are the names of the recipes I am going to try:
Chile Verde
Chicken Packets
Poulet de Fance
Chicken Broccoli
Baked Eggs
Linguine a la Anne
Mexican Stroganoff
Savory Beef
Chicken Cacciatore
Herbed Chicken
Biscuit Beef Bake
French Stuffed Potatoes
Farmers Casserole
The hardest part of this so far was making out my grocery list because I didn't choose all of the recipes they had. If I had then it would have been lots easier because they already have the grocery list typed out for you. Tonight I am going to try to cook all of my meats so, I will have less to do tomorrow. Wish me luck.
