DIY Door Muff.....To Keep Babies Sleeping

diy door muff
Ok, so I am officially obsessed with Pinterest.  I saw this door muff (material you attach over door latch to shut door so it won't make noise while you open/shut it) on Pinterest and thought....maybe I could make one.

I will do ANYTHING to keep my baby sleeping! We are in a new house and when I shut the door even when I hold in the handle and release it REALLY slowly the paint from the door shutting pops.  Or at least that's all I can come up with that it is.

Here is how I made mine.
door muffler
Get your supplies.  I used some scrap fabric, felt, and ribbon.
(2) 6 in x 5 in fabric of your choice (this is my floral fabric)
(3) 3 1/2 x 5 inches of felt (use light colored felt if you are using light fabric so it won't show through)  You can see I only had a enough for one of the pieces to be the lightest color and had to use beige for the rest but it doesn't matter because it doesn't show through the floral fabric.
(4) 17 inches of ribbon (this was too long but once you get it tied like you want then you can trim it.  If it's too short you can't ADD fabric but you can always take it away.

door muff
Iron floral fabric around felt. Iron down raw edges of second piece of material for when you top stitch it later. I also clipped my corners.
Add your ribbon on both sides. You want to place the ribbon in the center on the longest sides.
Pin it all together.

door muffler
Top stitch all the way around.

Now tie the ribbons to the front and back door handles on your nursery door with the padded 'muff' tight against the door's button/latch. Open and close the door as needed without turning the handles.
The padded 'muff' holds the door's button in and is thick enough to keep the door closed when needed.

Side note: If you look closely in my picture I have some black marks where the door closes.  I would make sure and wipe that area so you don't get the same marks. Or you could wash it if that bothers you...which it does me.

I also just found the name of the fabric I used.  I got it years ago for my first baby at Hobby Lobby.  It is SSI Robyn Pandolph Tickled Pink Rose Fabric.

Diapers From Amazon.com

Here are the diapers I have bought so far from Amazon.com.  According to my calculations.....here is how many I would use and how many I have so far.

63/week x 4 = 252/month

Here's what I paid....depending on the coupons used.  I usually used (2) 20% coupons together or I used (1) 20% + $10 coupon and always except for maybe once or twice because I forgot used Amazon mom which saves you an additional 30%.  But, as all good thing must come to an end I tried to use some coupons today to order even more diapers and it wouldn't let me.  Up until now I was able to use expired coupons that dated back until Nov. & Dec. but now the one's expiring even just yesterday 3/31/11 said they were expired.  I thought this might happen since the latest coupons were coming from March magazines and I hadn't heard of any other one's with later dates.  But, I was just too tired to get on my computer and order them last night.  Oh well....it would have only been only one other box of diapers anyways.   Hopefully, Amazon will continue to put out these diaper coupons so I can continue to stock up on diapers.

This is on average what I paid.  Some were smaller boxes but, I didn't move the boxes for fear they would all come tumbling down on my head.  When they arrived in the mail I wrote the original price and price paid on the box with a sharpie for future reference.

Amazon: 90% Off Diapers!!!

You see, the 20% off Amazon diaper purchase coupons available in the August Parents magazine (one-time use code starts with “A”), the August Parenting magazine (one-time use code starts with “X”), and the September Parents magazine (one-time use code starts with “W”) ARE actually stackable with one another!! Use the Amazon Coupon Book $1.50 Savings Linky (you may have to refresh the page a couple of times to get the coupon you want).  You can use one of each of these coupons per Amazon account. As you can see I didn't do this and could have saved $1.50 more.  Oh well.   Plus, you can combine these 20% off coupons with the 30% off Subscribe and Save diapers discount.

You can cancel the subscribe and save service at any time with absolutely no obligation or penalty. To do so just click here to manage your subscriptions and you can choose to change or cancel your subscriptions at any time. Easy as 1-2-3!

And not to overwhelm you anymore but there supposedly is a 4th coupon code in the September Parenting magazine starting with the letter "S" but I couldn't find my magazine.

I bought Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Diapers, Size 2 (12-18 Lbs), Economy Plus Pack,
152 Diapers for $4.00 or for FREE since I had gift certificates for Amazon from my Swagbucks account.

August issue of Parents Magazine: 20% Code starting with “A.” You can use one of these coupons on one box of diapers.

August issue of Parenting Magazine or Parenting, The Early Years: 20% Code starting with “X.” You can use one of these coupons on one box of diapers.

September issue of Parents Magazine: 20% Code starting with “W.” You can use one of these coupons on one box of diapers.

Baby Shower Napkin Diaper Favors!

At my nephew's Baby Shower um....17 years ago a lady brought these baby diaper favors and I told my mom I was going to make these one day and well.... that one day was yesterday.  This was the last and final thing I helped my niece do for the infamous Baby Shower.

More people liked these than the cookies I slaved over.  Oh well, I was happy they liked these too.  Except, these were a lot easier.  I used left over napkins from my daughter's Birthday party, folded them up like a diaper, put a pin in them, dipped them in wax and put them on wax paper to dry.  Then, we filled them with chocolate covered peanuts for poop, of course!

Onesie Cookies for Baby Shower!

We'll I'm not sure why I decided to start with such a challenging cookie project for my first cookie icing experience.  But, anyways I did.  I have never iced a cookie in my life except for using the premade store bought kind before these cookies.

Long story short, I saw these cookies on this blog and thought I can do that and I did.  They were VERY time consuming and there were lots of learning curves but, I pulled it off and my everyone loved them at the baby shower I helped my niece throw for her best friend.  Aren't they sooo cute.  I know they aren't perfect but, I was happy with the end result.

Free Nursing Cover - Just Pay Shipping

Use code Backorder1 to get $32 off your total at checkout at uddercovers.com! Most of their nursing covers are $32 making them free! Shipping is $8.95.

I noticed that a lot are now out of stock. But, since I will be putting this back for a baby shower then, it doesn't matter. I decided to get a neutral pattern so it could easily go for a boy or a girl. Selection is limited at this point.
